FC Union and Christopher Trimmel go into another year together. On Friday, the Berliners announced the contract extension with the 38 -year -old club icon, which goes with the Iron for the twelfth year. In the ranking of the most club -loving players in the Bundesliga, the Austrian will continue to climb up.

“I have been wearing the Union jersey for so many years now and it still feels special,” said Trimmel. “Together we celebrated incredible success and contributed to bringing the club to where it is today. For me, Union has long been more than just a club, Union has become a second home.”

In 2014, Trimmel from Rapid Vienna came to the then second division Union in Köpenick. His number of missions in the Bundesliga (160) now exceeds that in the lower house (152). With a total of 355 competitive games for the FCU, he is a record player of the Berliner. There are currently only nine professionals who have been with their club for a long time, at least Thomas Müller will be leaving Bayern in the coming season. Like Trimmel for eleven years in her team on the hump, four other players currently have (one of the oldest players at their clubs).

Christopher embodies Union like hardly any other player, ”attested managing director Horst Heldt the club icon.“ Trimmel is “on and next to the square, gives the team stability and brings his experience. Its importance for the club goes far beyond the sporty, because such a close bond between player and club is very rare in today’s professional football. We are very happy to continue to be able to count on him.” Since 2018, Trimmel has been captain and in the squad that was playing for Union in both the 2nd league as well as in the Bundesliga and even the Champions League (for the Union squad after the duration of the association).
