Union Berlin beats league rivals Augsburg 1-0 and 4-1 in a double test in Spain. The Irons also won tests four and five of the winter preparations.

Coach Urs Fischer (56): “We always struggle against Augsburg in the championship. It was now two good tests. I have seen many good things. Both of our teams worked very hard. We have implemented some things as hoped.”

In front of around 300 Union fans at the hotel complex in Campoamor, Jordan Siebatcheu scored the decisive goal in the first game with a penalty kick (56th). In the second duel, Sven Michel (12th, 39th), Kevin Behrens (26th) and Jamie Leweling (35th) scored for Union.

Lukas Petkov (80th) scored the consolation goal for the better Augsburg youth team. The future Hertha player Florian Niederlechner tried in vain to score after being substituted on.

In the first game, Union started with a back three. In the second game, on a different pitch in the hotel, it started with a back four. Fischer: “We’re trying to import the second system, which gives us an opportunity in certain games.”

With the exception of the midfielders Janik Haberer (infection) and Andras Schäfer (rehabilitation after a metatarsal fracture), all of the regular place candidates who traveled were able to play for a longer period of time. Fischer on the scorers: “It helps them when it comes to self-confidence. They are very ambitious there.”

The Union professionals were flat after the two games. You can now look forward to a free Sunday. But before that, on Saturday, there was still the traditional evening together with the fans.
