Plenty of activity at baseball club HCAW in Bussum this Monday. After the Holland Series this weekend, everything must be cleared, repaired and cleaned. A group of about ten volunteers is very busy with it. What extra help is welcome says Rob Bierman in the camera of NH Sport. “To all grandfathers: come help.”

“The nets and bases sometimes break,” says Wil Kitslaar. As a HCAW volunteer, he walks around for forty years at the Bussum baseball club. “Furthermore, we clean the canteen and changing rooms after the weekend.”

Cozy club

Kitslaar: “HCAW is a pleasant club where we like each other. In addition, the players are happy to play for this club.”

In addition to the many chores, these motivated helpers are also supporters on competition days. And support can use HCAW, because the baseball players from the Gooi are in the final of the Holland Series and they have to pay for it with superpower Neptunus from Rotterdam. “The difference is that they have to become champions and we want to become a champion,” Bierman says. In addition to being a volunteer, he has been a supporter for over fifty years.

After two games, the score is 1-1. This Thursday the third game is on the program. In a best-of-seven, the two finalists must decide who will be the new national champion. HCAW only did this three times in the past, while the Rotterdam opponent had already experienced that twenty times.

Baseball legend Milliard

Someone who can talk about success is baseball legend Ralph Milliard. During his active career he played in the American Major League at clubs such as Marlins and the New York Mets. Now he is a fanatic supporter at his beloved club HCAW. “The club is for me as a family.” You can see the complete report about Milliard in this NH Sport.
