The United Nations have officially declared the famine in the Gaza Strip, unique in the Middle East. More than half a million people live in “disastrous” circumstances, while the threat seems to expand over the entire enclave. Middle East specialist Koert Debeuf is pessimistic: “This created famine is a huge war crime, but I don’t immediately see the political will to stop.”
