No halves: Under this motto, the Ultras of Eintracht Braunschweig criticize the reduction of the guest contact in the derby – and make a decision.
At the away derby of Eintracht Braunschweig near Hannover 96 on March 9 (1.30 p.m.) it should remain unusually quiet in the ranks of the guest block in the Heinz von Heiden Arena. The ultra scene of the BTSV announces a boycott.
The background: As in the first leg against the Lower Saxony rival, the guest management is reduced by 40 percent at the upcoming derby. This is a “non -acceptable fact that we decisively combat,” says a corresponding announcement of the scene.
Last Monday, the Hanover police department ordered the partial exclusion of the guest fans. In Hanover, a maximum of 2,541 supporters of the Eintracht may be included in the stadium. At this dispute, the police directorate relies on paragraph 11 of the Lower Saxony Police and Regulatory Authority Act, according to which it can “take the necessary measures to ward off dangers”.
Because of the repeated riots before, during or after the games between Braunschweig and Hanover, Lower Saxony’s Interior Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) even threatened a complete exclusion of guest fans at these derbies last year. In fact, only 1,260 instead of 2,100 96 supporters were allowed to buy a ticket at the first leg in Braunschweig. Then both fan camps demonstrated separately against each other.
The most recent measure for fans again meets strong headwind. It is understood as a next step towards further stricter consequences. “The corresponding number of guest fans is an elementary part of fan culture that needs to be defended,” the Braunschweig ultra scene continues in the leaflet. The derby will therefore not be visited under these circumstances.
Even in the first leg, large parts of the fan scene of the game remained away. It remains to be seen how many Braunschweig travel to Hanover despite the measures. The Ultras announced that they wanted to express more detail at the upcoming home game of the BTSV.
