With Ulm he wanted to keep relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga. Now the time for Thomas Wörle is over at the club.

SSV Ulm 1846 separated from head coach Thomas Wörle. This was announced by the second division team on Instagram on Tuesday. “After an intensive analysis, the SSV Ulm 1846 came to the conclusion of releasing head coach Thomas Wörle with immediate effect,” wrote Ulm in a statement. Assistant coach Max Knauer and athletic coach Christoph Zellner were also released.

Previously, the Pay TV broadcaster Sky, the Südwest Presse and the Neu-Ulmer Zeitung reported. For the time being, U19 coach Robert Lechleiter takes over the team.

“This is not a nice day for all of us. But every club, every manager, every trainer comes in such a situation. And that has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation or the like. On the contrary. I thank Tom and his team for everything you did for our club,” said Managing Director Markus Thiele.

Last November, the Ulm club tour had extended the Wörle Treaty by two years to 2027. He took over the “Spatzen” in 2021 and sensationally led the club from the regional league to the German lower house. The goal was clearly defined for the current season: relegation. But after 25 match days, the promoted team is only in the penultimate place in the table (19 points).

Ulm only celebrated three wins, shared the points ten times and lost twelve games. The second division team is currently missing four points to save themselves from the danger zone. The duel at Karlsruher SC will be up for Ulm next Sunday (from 1.30 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online).
