After fleeing the war, Ukrainian FIFA referee Denys Schurman officiates lower-league games in the Hamburg Football Association in his home country.
As the HFV announced on Thursday, the 35-year-old was scheduled for a game in the Ober- and Landesliga on the first weekend in April.
Schurman “fled to Hamburg with his family at the beginning of this terrible war. The Ukrainian Football Association informed UEFA about his new whereabouts,” the HFV said. The German Football Association (DFB) was asked by the European Football Union to integrate it into the game.
According to the HFV, Schurman has managed 44 first division games in Ukraine so far. Two German Oberliga referees will assist him.
