Alina Pychyk lives with man and daughter near the Ukrainian city of Kharkov as Russia in February 2022 invades the country. Soon enemy tanks enter its city and the area is occupied. Alina does not dare to flee for fear of the Russian soldiers at the checkpoints that she has to go through. Eventually she steps into one of the last evacuation bases and travels to Poland. A few months later she travels further to the Netherlands.
She now lives with her family in a shelter in Middenmeer. Here she tries to build a new life. Alina finds work in a supermarket and daughter Polina is doing well at school. A new family member has also been added: daughter Zlata.
