The municipality states in a statement that the plan does not provide any noticeable improvement for residents of Uithoorn and De Kwakel. According to the municipal council, the situation may even worsen in some areas.
The Airport Traffic Decree determines how much and how flights can be flown around Schiphol. The new design should provide clear rules and better protection of local residents. But according to the municipality of Uithoorn, this does not happen enough.
‘Erodes trust’
Schiphol Affairs Councilor Ferry Hoekstra believes that the ministry should come up with something better after ‘ten years of thinking’: “We have been looking forward to clear rules that would better protect our residents for a long time. But if, after such a long wait, you present a new LVB that does not deliver any noticeable improvement, it will again affect trust.”
Residents’ association PUSH, environmental organizations and the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) also expressed strong criticism of the new Airport Traffic Decree. At the end of January, chairman of the Uithoorn residents’ association PUSH, Mirella Visser, even spoke of ‘a black day for the area.’
