Uganda bans homosexuality and transsexuality: up to ten years in prison

The Ugandan parliament passed a draconian anti-gay law on Tuesday evening. It is now prohibited to identify yourself as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or queer (LGBTQ), says human rights organization Human Rights Watch. People who commit homosexual acts or fail to report attempts to commit such acts face seven to ten years in prison or heavy fines.
