Uefa President Aleksander Čefer does not hold behind the mountain with his opinion. Now he comments politically – and expresses sharp criticism
Uefa President Aleksander Čeferer has expressed fundamental criticism of the political orientation in Europe. “We all have enough of political correctness. There is no more freedom of expression here in the western world. You can no longer say what you think,” said the head of the European Football Union in an interview with the newspaper “Delo” in his Slovenian homeland.
On the one hand, there are right -wing populists who used a simplified rhetoric. On the other hand, there is the mainstream policy and media that turned to people “from the intellectual and arrogant side”. This mainstream says: “Don’t dare to discuss it or argue with us,” said Čeferin. “That is why some people think that right -wing populists are revolutionaries who oppose the mainstream. But they are not.”
Europe loses in every respect and is crushed by drastic regulations, with Čeferin excluded football. “However, we cannot be with everyone in the war and preach to the whole world how things are to be done, because the facts are different,” added the 57-year-old.
In this regard, Čeferi mentioned the discussions about Qatar before and during the World Cup 2022. “This is certainly a typical example of the instructions for the instructions of European political populists who do not recognize different cultures or different religions.” There is talk of non -discrimination, but not understood that “different people in different environments have different customs”.
Čeferer sees the world in such a danger as it has not been since the 1930s. “On the one hand, we have tyrants at the top and on the other hand, we have politicians who do not make any decisions who are only important public opinion and which are basically incompetent,” said the UEFA boss.
One had got into a situation “in which some large countries take parts of the territory of other countries and can publicly discuss what they take and who will attack. This is dangerous,” emphasized Čeferin. He does not know whether the European heads of state and government would recognize how dangerous the situation is and how urgently they should talk to each other in peace of the European Union. “They are there to protect the EU citizens and not to pursue their own interests,” said the UEFA President.
