The capital is in panic fever! At 76, others lean back in wing chairs and let the younger ones do the work. Udo Lindenberg is ageless. He doesn’t believe in conventions anyway. To the delight of around 22,000 spectators in the sold-out Waldbühne.

For Lindenberg, who has lived in Hamburg’s Hotel Atlantic since 1995, concerts in Berlin are a home game. The BZ Culture Prize winner once sang like no other against the division of Germany. Unforgettable is his song about the girl from East Berlin.

And also in the Waldbühne it was political as usual on Friday evening. The song “What are wars for?” from 1981 is more relevant than ever when it comes to Ukraine. Otherwise there was a colorful bouquet from six Lindenberg decades.

“Honky Tonky Show” at the beginning, then “My Ding” and later of course the “Special Train to Pankow”. Lindenberg: “We were homesick for Berlin!” A colorful show with dancing and fuss, stripping nuns and lots of attitude.

Part two of the Lindenberg Circus will follow on Saturday in the Waldbühne. There are no more tickets.
