U2: The new single “Atomic City”

In keeping with their concert residency in the US desert metropolis of Las Vegas, which premiered on the same day, U2 shared a new single with the world on September 29, 2023. The piece is called “Atomic City” – and is not only a reference to Las Vegas, but also to the legendary band Blondie. Frontman Bono also sees the song as a bow to the fans: “It’s a love song to our audience: ‘where you are is where I’ll be'”.

“Atomic City” was produced by Jacknife Lee and Steve Lillywhite – the latter has been part of U2’s core production team for many decades.

Two different formats

The single will be available in two formats – as a regular CD single and as a limited 7-inch vinyl, which is quite impressive with its fluorescent look. In addition to the A-side “Atomic City,” the LP version also includes the song “Etched.”
