Mladen Mijajlovic’s performances at the U17 World Cup in Qatar put the midfield talent in the scouts’ notebooks. The 17-year-old Swiss, who works for SC Freiburg, has impressed with three goals in four appearances and was named player of the game in two of three games in the group phase. According to the “Kicker”, the qualities have not gone unnoticed by the Serbian association. He tries to convince the dual citizen to change.
“Mladen is an exceptionally good kicker, technically excellent, equipped with wit and a goal threat. It’s because of a player like that that you watch his team’s game,” said Klemens Hartenbach, sports director and chief scout at the Breisgauer professionals, to the magazine about the talent, who moved from the U19 of FC Aarau to Dreisam last summer and also plays in the A-youth team there.
Hartenbach said about Mijajlovic’s future: “It’s about stabilizing him in the medium term so that he can also contribute his qualities to adult football when pressure, intensity and physicality increase significantly. It all depends on what happens to him physically. He is still comparatively small and slight. We then have to resist temptations to want to push him up a level when things come his way that are not yet physically appropriate. We have things in place with the family and the advisor classified and discussed a good plan. But you don’t know how big the hype can sometimes get.”
