About 110 years ago, in 1914, the Germans and Allies were at war with each other. But during the so-called Christmas truce, a number of soldiers intended to connect anyway. And what better way to do that than with a game of football. Today the players of the U13 of KFC Poperinge do that again.
“It is more difficult than on a normal field. It’s very bumpy, but I’m not afraid of breaking anything. If you pay close attention, that is not a problem,” says Vic Logie of KFC Poperinge. “It’s a lot of fun, but if you fall, you fall hard. It’s not for every week,” Cas De Ruddere agrees with his teammate.
