U-turn at Florian Wirtz? FC Bayern can hope

Hardly a day goes by when there are no new rumors about Florian Wirtz’s future. There could be a turnaround for Bayer Leverkusen’s youngster in the summer.

It was only on Tuesday that Hans-Joachim Wirtz, the national player’s father and advisor, emphasized that his son would probably also play for Bayer Leverkusen in the 2024/2025 season.

“At the moment everything is geared towards Florian playing in Leverkusen next season,” he clarified on “Sky”.

This is not a clear commitment, but according to the TV station, Wirtz actually plans to stay with the Werkself. A change is only conceivable in the summer of 2025.

According to Fabrizio Romano, however, it cannot be ruled out that Wirtz will leave Leverkusen after the European Championships next year. Accordingly, a change could definitely take place at the end of the transfer window.

It is still unclear whether the attacking midfielder will join a new club in 2024 or 2025. However, a change next January is out of the question, explained the “transfer expert”.

Florian Wirtz at FC Bayern “at the top of the list”

FC Bayern in particular is considered a possible candidate for signing Wirtz. According to Sky, the Munich team has the 20-year-old “at the top of their list”.

However, the youngster would probably have to pay a transfer fee in the three-digit million range. The international player’s contract in Leverkusen is dated until 2027.

Real Madrid and Liverpool FC are also repeatedly said to be interested in Wirtz. Most recently, the French portal “Le 10 Sport” also brought Paris Saint-Germain into play.

PSG is undoubtedly one of the clubs that could financially support a Wirtz transfer. It is not known whether the German international can even imagine a move to the French Ligue 1.
