Two years in prison for drunk driver who killed Purmerend Roshita

The District Court of Noord-Holland today imposed a prison sentence of two years, one year of which is conditional, and a four-year driving ban against 20-year-old Mick F. from Purmerend. He is suspected of causing a fatal accident under the influence of alcohol and then driving on. The accident killed 28-year-old Roshita from Purmerend.

The penalty is much less than the requirement of four years in prison. The suspect, Mick F., was at a party in Purmerend with friends on the evening in question. He drank several glasses of alcohol that evening and brought friends home at the end of the evening. Despite the warning from another person present at the party that it is not wise to drive with alcohol, the suspect nevertheless got into the car with three passengers.

Shortly after midnight, after the first passenger had been dropped off, Mick F. drove south at high speed on Burgemeester D. Kooimanweg in Purmerend. It is located within built-up areas and has a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour.
At the intersection near the Flevostraat, the passenger car collided with the cyclist who was crossing the street.

Fled away

Together with them, he quickly takes off on foot after the accident. He leaves the young woman, Roshita, for dead. The paramedics try to resuscitate her, but this is in vain.

A few hours after the accident, then 20-year-old Mick F. reports to the police station and is arrested. He had to do a breath test, which gave P/A (pass/alarm) as a result. Since some hours had passed in the meantime, it was decided to examine the man’s blood. This showed that he had too much alcohol in his blood: 0.38 milligrams per milliliter of blood, while a value of 0.2 is allowed for a novice driver.
