Two victories for the DSV selection at the IBU-CUp

The German biathlon team can look back on a successful weekend in the second-class IBU Cup. The DSV team had two wins in Sweden.

Johanna Puff opened the competitions in Idre Fjäll in the sprint on Friday with a German success. The 21-year-old completed the 7.5 kilometers 3.3 seconds faster than second-placed Norwegian Jenny Enodd. Jeanne Richard from France came third.

Puff was particularly impressive at the shooting range and made no mistakes here. The ski hunter celebrated her first victory in the IBU Cup. On Saturday Puff ended up in 18th place. Two mistakes at the standing stop cost her a better result.

Juliane Frühwirt ended up on the podium in second place behind Jenny Enodd. Julia Tannheimer came sixth. Emily Schumann (11th), Julia Kink (12th) and Lisa Maria Spark (14th) also ended up in the top 20. In the pursuit on Sunday, Emily Schumann was the best German athlete in ninth place with Jenny Enodd’s victory.

Biathlon: Philipp Horn wins the sprint on Saturday

Philipp Horn was particularly impressive among the DSV men. The 29-year-old landed at the top of the podium in the sprint on Saturday with zero shooting errors. The day before, Horn had finished in fourth place. Danilo Riethmüller (5th) and Lucas Fratzscher (8th) also made it into the top 10 on Friday.

In the pursuit on Sunday, Horn ensured a successful conclusion with second place.

Biathlon: Norway stars at the top

The outstanding biathlete of the weekend was once again the Norwegian Johan-Olav Botn. The 24-year-old won both Friday and Sunday.

Botn ranks in the overall World Cup with 435 points ahead of Horn (340). Among the women, Norwegian Karoline Erdal is at the top. The best German in biathlon is Puff in fifth place.
