The police arrested two people last week in an investigation into fake officers. The two called people throughout Drenthe, posing as police employees.
In those telephone conversations, victims were told that there had been many burglaries in their area and that their own home was the next target. With this chat trick, the two perpetrators wanted to convince residents to hand over valuables at the door, which would then be ‘kept’ by the fake police officers.
The victims never saw those items and jewelry again.
The police have now arrested a 24-year-old woman from the municipality of Midden-Groningen and an 18-year-old man from the municipality of Het Hogeland. They are no longer in custody, but are still suspected of involvement in the fraud.
It is still being investigated whether the suspects can be linked to other reports of fake officers.
