Two new childcare initiatives in Dadizele & Wervik

That is why they have appointed a quality coordinator who monitors and adjusts the daily operation. A new childcare center has also opened in Kortemark, and soon also in Merkem.

First children

Today the first children arrived in the new daycare of non-profit organization De Hoeksteen in Dadizele.

“We are happy that the shelter has been able to open, because there is certainly a need for it in the region. We were able to purchase a lot of nice materials. It will certainly be fun,” says childcare worker Nena Nuytten.

But it is not self-evident to open a new childcare today, because the controls are strict and that has already led to the closure of a number of reception centers. Vzw De Hoeksteen is now opening 4 new initiatives almost simultaneously.

Jurgen Duyck, director of non-profit organization De Hoeksteen: “We immediately appointed a quality coordinator for this purpose, who will help shape our reception. We therefore want to do everything we can, with the experience we have, years of operating residential care centers and a service check company. , to also apply the quality standards that we apply there in our childcare initiatives.”

At a residential care center

It is no coincidence that the 4 childcare initiatives are located at a residential care centre. Vzw De Hoeksteen also operates 4 residential care centers, including Maria’s Rustoord in Dadizele.

“By nature, we are operators of residential care centers. But those childcare initiatives are closely related to that. We have the logistics processes in our residential care centers, a kitchen, maintenance, technical support. And we also use that in our childcare. For example, the hot meals are freshly prepared daily in our kitchens.”

In Kortemark 18 children can be cared for, in Wervik and Dadizele 13 and a new childcare center will open soon in Merkem.
