An explosion took place in a stairwell on Mesdaglaan in Alkmaar this evening around 7.30 pm. The explosion blew out all the windows in the portal, but no one was injured. About an hour later there was another explosion, this time on Olieslagerstraat. The police are calling on people to look out for the suspect.
A police spokesperson speaks of a ‘cluttered chaotic situation’, in which two front doors were blackened and all windows in the stairwell were blown out.
Shortly after the explosion on Mesdaglaan, the police received another report of an explosion, this time in Olieslagerstraat. This street is located on the other side of Alkmaar, near the De Mare shopping center. Here are in the past more frequent explosions been. It is not clear whether the two explosions are related.
Police have launched an investigation into both explosions. Before the fire on Mesdaglaan, they asked people via Burgernet to look out for a light-skinned boy around 1.60/1.65 meters tall.
