The facts took place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 on the Pottelberg in Kortrijk. Around 11 a.m., a patrol from the VLAS police zone noticed a suspicious vehicle with a French license plate. When the occupants realized they were being followed, they tried to escape.
“The vehicle was found abandoned in a parking lot moments later,” police said. “A witness saw the car approaching with screeching tires and three men fleeing on foot.”
Shortly afterwards, one suspect was arrested nearby. He kept an eye on the abandoned vehicle from a distance. Half an hour later, a second man showed up at the car. He was also arrested. These are two men aged 42 and 45, with Ukrainian and Russian nationality respectively. A third suspect is still missing.
