Summer, sun, heat in Berlin. That lured many people out to the lakes. Unfortunately, there were also two bathing deaths on Saturday.

At around 6.30 p.m. a 17-year-old died in Weißen See and at around 7 p.m. a 59-year-old man died in the airport lake in Reinickendorf.

The 17-year-old was quickly found by divers from the DLRG and the DRK. According to the fire brigade, attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful. The bathing accident is said to have occurred outside the lido.

According to the “Berliner Morgenpost”, the 59-year-old had apparently been in the water for several hours. Relatives were surprised that he had not come home.

The hot weekend starts with a sad start. Investigations into the cause of death are ongoing.
