Twelve-time kickboxing champion Jorina Baars receives a silver medal of honor in her hometown

During the annual sports gala in Den Helder, 35-year-old Jorina Baars received the silver medal of honor last night. The twelve-time kickboxing world champion receives the award not only for her sporting achievements, but also for her ambassadorship and commitment to society. In 2010, Baars also became ‘Jutter of the Year’.

At the end of last year Jorina conquered Baars her twelfth world title. She is also a Dutch and European kickboxing champion several times. “She has left her mark on the sport and receives recognition and appreciation for this at home and abroad,” the municipality said. ‘As a world-class athlete, she is also an ambassador for the municipality of Den Helder.’

‘And in addition to her impressive career, she runs her own gym and is actively committed to social causes, including special classes for people with Parkinson’s.’

The municipality thought it was only logical to award Baars the silver medal of honor because of her special merits. “You represent this beautiful city both in word and spirit,” Mayor Jan de Boer told Baars last night.

At the end of 2022, NH looked back on her successes that year with Baars, watch the interview below:
