In October 2013, Die Toten Hosen celebrated a brilliant tour finale. Campino, Breiti, Kuddel, Andi and Vom played two sold-out evenings in the stadium in Düsseldorf. 90,000 Hosen fans celebrated with the band the end of the — there is no other way to call it — triumphant “Krach der Republik” tour.

A year earlier, the Hosen had released one of the most successful albums in their band’s history, “Ballast der Republik”. Above all, the single “Days Like This” became a mega hit, and the tour that went with it became the most extensive the band had ever done. It goes without saying that the two final evenings in Düsseldorf had to be filmed. Director Paul Dugdale — known for his work with The Prodigy, Adele and Coldplay — is responsible for the film.

He said: “I’m always thrilled to work with musicians who are so enthusiastic about the filmmaking process and who — like me — strive to perfectly capture the look and feel of their live shows in order to to show that to the world. There is no question that Toten Hosen have that enthusiasm and I am incredibly excited to be working so closely with them to create a film that is as wild as their live show.”

The WDR shows “Die Toten Hosen — Krach der Republik” on April 14, 2022 at 12:30 a.m.
