The global test and certification company TÜV Süd is expanding its work in Asia: After the accreditation by the IOA’s accreditation point, the company has been listed as a recognized certification body in Bangladesh, India and Vietnam on the website of the textile Exchange since June 1, 2025.
With this, TÜV Süd reacts to an increasing demand in the region and trains new auditor: inside, digitized processes and strengthened the local laboratory capacities in the countries mentioned.
TÜV Süd relies on standards such as the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) for textiles with recycling material. At the same time, he relies on combined test strategies that use both audits along the supply chain and chemical analyzes to determine the actual recycling content in textiles.
“Terms such as ‘recycled’ or ‘sustainable’ are often vaguely defined in advertising, what consumers are confused: on the inside,” says Raffaella Santoro, Director Global Strategic Softlines at TÜV Süd. “What matters are objective evidence and independent tests.”
“We observe a strong increase in inquiries from both exporters: inside and international brands who want to secure their supply chains. TÜV Süd responds with targeted investments in know-how, personnel and infrastructure,” adds Santoro.
