The average speed control is carried out by the traffic police with the tutor system, whose official name is Sicve, on 200 motorway sections, of which 26 were added in 2025. The extension of the controlled areas is a total of 1,940 kilometersto be added to the 108 kilometers of the A2 Mediterranean Autostrada which use the analogous system of Anas, Vergilius. Both appliances detect any excesses of speed by calculating the time used by the vehicle, through the recognition of the plaque, to travel the distance between the entrance portal and the exit portal. In case of average speed higher than that allowed, the system questions the motorization archives to trace the owner or, in the event of a car rented, to the driver. The traffic police has the task of verifying and notify the infringements. Tutor and Vergilius are always reported by special green signs positioned in approach and near the detection portal. Below is the list of the sections indicated in the list updated by the police for 2025.
