Turnout for booster shot among young people exceeds expectations

Many teenagers take the plunge to be able to travel carefree during the spring break. Lara Thys: “I’m going on a ski trip to Austria. Otherwise you have to take a PCR test.”

Teenagers can reserve their booster shot online in advance at Laatjevaccineren.be, but they are also welcome without reservation. The turnout on this first booster jab day is above expectations. Eveline Dubos, vaccination center Oostkamp: “120 to 150 shots. Another hundred have already registered for Friday.”

The booster shot for teenagers has not yet been approved by the European Medicines Agency, but Flanders has chosen to distribute it anyway. Parental consent is required for an injection in minors.

Booster shots for teenagers will also be rolled out in other West Flemish vaccination centers from today.
