Turkish Fencing Federation President Abdurrahman Karataş said that national fencers won 128 medals in 2025 and that this success was a turning point for Turkish fencing.

In his statement, Abdurrahman Karataş stated that 2025 will be very productive for Turkish fencing, both in terms of sports success and organizational strength.

Karataş said, “Our national athletes made us proud by winning a total of 128 medals, including 49 gold, 25 silver and 54 bronze, in the European and world championships. We ranked 5th in the Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.” he said.

Pointing out that sporting successes are supported by increasing participation, Karataş said, “In 2025, 1,745 of our athletes participated in a total of 106 international organizations in the star, youth and senior categories. 4,671 of our athletes participated in 6 international organizations held in Türkiye. In this way, our athletes gained international experience. As a federation, we took our organizational ability to the next level. We had a very productive year.” he said.

Noting that the interest in fencing throughout Türkiye is increasing every year, Karataş concluded his words as follows:

“The number of licensed athletes has exceeded 21 thousand. There is also a significant increase in the number of active athletes, coaches and referees. Our goal is to spread fencing throughout the country, to have a say in the international arena and to move Turkish fencing further with permanent success. This table achieved in 2025 is the result of correct planning and joint effort. Hopefully, we will achieve the same success in 2026.”
