The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture reported that the country’s authorities decided to ban fishing at night in part of the Black Sea after the discovery of a mine in the Bosphorus. The ministry announced this on its Twitter page.

“For the safety of the life and property of our fishermen and our people, from today until the next announcement, a ban is introduced on all types of fishing from sunset to sunrise in the waters of the Black Sea between Bulgaria and Kefken,” the statement said.

Earlier, a device similar to a mine was discovered in the Bofsor Strait. The Turkish authorities have temporarily suspended navigation of ships in the area. As Defense Minister Hulusi Akar later stated, the discovered mine will not harm navigation in the Bosphorus Strait.

In mid-March, the Russian FSB reported that some mines laid by the Ukrainian military on the approaches to the Black Sea ports began to drift into the Black Sea due to cable breakage under the influence of the current.
