Turbine Potsdam still in crisis

Women’s Bundesliga team Turbine Potsdam is unable to find its way out of the crisis under its interim coach Sven Weigang.

The two-time Champions League winner suffered his eighth competitive defeat in a row on Matchday 8 for the 57-year-old coach’s Bundesliga debut against TSG Hoffenheim, 3-1 (0-0) and remains the winless bottom of the top flight.

Weigang’s debut after the dismissal of head coach Sebastian Middeke failed last Sunday due to Potsdam’s exit in the DFB Cup round of 16.

Hoffenheim consolidated their fourth place in the table with their fifth win of the season. Katharina Naschenweng (49′), Ereleta Memeti (65′) and Melissa Kössler (66′) scored the visitors’ goals with a double strike. Turbine could only shorten through Pauline Deutsch (74th).
