TUI shares wanted: TUI Germany is satisfied with the summer season

One looks at a strong summer season “and in the last few weeks for the first time again with guest numbers above 2019,” said TUI Germany boss Stefan Baumert on Tuesday evening in Berlin according to the announcement. Vacationers again booked well in advance in order to secure a favorable price early on. “And yet the interest in traveling in the coming weeks is so great that we have ordered additional contingents in some destinations,” said Baumert.

Overall, the travel prices are higher than before the corona pandemic. Some vacationers were therefore looking for a suitable offer within their budget. However, they did not compromise on quality, but rather looked at where they were going. “Anyone who used to travel long-distance has switched to Southern Europe or North Africa.”

Baumert considers a handling chaos at German airports as in the past summer season to be rather unlikely. Airports, handling, security and maintenance have prepared themselves and should better absorb peaks in passenger numbers. At the same time, the manager assured that the company’s own airline, TUIfly, has sufficient flight personnel, a stable flight schedule and also has 12 to 13 machines on standby across the group.

According to Baumert, Greece, Mallorca and Turkey are particularly popular with TUI travelers this summer. “In Antalya we are registering high growth and have expanded our offer accordingly. We are expecting over a million holiday guests from Germany, Austria and Switzerland this year,” reported the manager. Due to the strong demand, TUI is also extending the season in Greece and making the destination bookable until mid-November. According to him, the United States is the top summer destination for long-distance flights with the largest number of guests. Thailand is making a comeback and ranks second.

TUI supports travel values

A message from TUI about bookings, some above the pre-corona level, supported the travel sector on Wednesday. The travel group’s shares temporarily rose by 3.52 percent to EUR 6.83 via XETRA and thus further consolidated their highest level since April. Other travel values such as Fraport and Lufthansa are also increasing at times. In the pan-European travel & leisure sector, however, the gaming group Entain spoiled the picture with a price slump due to a capital increase.
