Students at Eindhoven University of Technology who encounter problems due to the schedule changes are allowed to reschedule their exams. The university reported this on Friday evening. TU/e was the target of a cyber attack last week, after which the networks were taken offline. The exams, which were supposed to start on Monday, have been postponed for a week.
Several students will probably not be able to take the rescheduled exams because they already had other things planned. If they have a valid reason, students may move their exams from the second to the third or fourth quarter. TU/e has decided that. According to the university, a planned holiday or a top sporting event are among the valid reasons.

Patrick Groothuis, vice-chairman of TU/e, says that he realizes that this places additional demands on teachers. “The workload is partly shifted, because the student is not given an extra chance, but a different date for the same exam. This means there is no extra marking time, but it does mean that extra exams have to be taken, for example. We will look at how we can can compensate this for teachers.”
The university expects to provide more information on Sunday about resuming education on Monday.
