National goalkeeper Oliver Baumann is initially missing TSG Hoffenheim because of a concussion. The 34-year-old suffered the injury to the much-discussed scene with the 3-2 winning goal of Borussia Dortmund last Saturday.

“My diagnosis shows an example that the lawn is about the safety of the players, who can even carry out consequential damage from such situations,” said Baumann in a statement by the Kraichgauer. “Therefore, in the interest of the health of the players, there may be no two opinions to interrupt the game immediately for possible head injuries – regardless of how the game situation is presented at this moment.”

Baumann will be missing from Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday in the next game of the table 15. The captain had got the knee of Carney Chukwuemeka against the BVB in added time and suffered a grazing wound and bump. Immediately afterwards, when the TSG goalkeeper did not get up properly again, Waldemar Anton scored the goal for Dortmund. Referee Benjamin Brand gave the goal despite the violent protests by Hoffenheimer and subsequently received support from the DFB.

“Oli’s conception of the brain hits us really hard. Not only that we have lost the game against Borussia Dortmund through an irregular goal from our point of view, our captain and backing in the TSG goal in the end of the season is also canceled,” said Hoffenheim’s sports manager Andreas Schicker. One still believes that the referee should have interrupted the game immediately.

It is unclear how long Baumann has to pause and whether his next use in the DFB selection of national coach Julian Nagelsmann is also at risk. The German national team will meet Portugal on June 4 in the semi -finals of the Nations League in Munich.
