Washington (dpa-AfX)-US President Donald Trump has drawn attention to himself with a quote that is attributed to the self-crowned French emperor Napoleon. “Anyone who saves their country does not violate a law!”, Trump wrote on the X.

Trump, who took up his second term as US president a good three weeks ago, is criticized for his government style for some of the Americans. They accuse him of not sticking to the principles of democracy, for example when he declares himself president of cultural institutions such as the Kennedy Center, or outsiders such as the tech billionaire Elon Musk entrusted with government tasks.

Trump is also exposed to a wave of lawsuits. The plaintiffs accuse him of doing part of his decrees against laws. So far, judges have at least temporarily stopped decisions from the White House in at least twelve cases./DM/DP/ZB
