Trump Claims He’s Arrested Tuesday, Calls For Protest… And Gains Support From Russia | Abroad

Donald Trump claims in a message on his own social media platform Truth Social that he will be arrested next Tuesday. The former US president calls on his supporters to protest. The arrest would be part of the investigation into hush money paid to porn actress Stormy Daniels. Remarkable: Trump receives support from the Russian former president Medvedev in his call for protest.

Trump allegedly obtained the information through a “leak from a corrupt office” of the New York prosecutor. But first he criticizes the general state of the country.

“Our nation is now third world and dying. The American dream is dead,” he said. “The radical left anarchists have stolen our presidential election and thus the heart of our country. American patriots are arrested and held captive like animals, while criminals and left-wing thugs are allowed to roam the streets freely. They kill and burn without retaliation. Millions pour through our open borders, many from prisons and mental institutions. Crime and inflation are destroying our way of life.”

“Although there is no evidence that a crime was committed and this fairy tale has been disproved several times, the leading Republican candidate will be arrested on Tuesday.” Trump denies committing crimes and calls on his supporters to protest. “Protest, take our nation back!”

Hush money

Two weeks before the November 2016 election, Trump’s personal attorney slid $130,000 under the table for Stormy Daniels. That porn actress claimed to have had an affair with the former president. Michael Cohen had to make sure Daniels kept quiet about Trump’s extramarital escapades.

According to Cohen, the former president had asked him to do so. However, the payment was never reflected in the Trump campaign’s books. Cohen eventually went to jail for violating campaign finance laws, tax evasion and perjury.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is the one investigating whether Trump broke any laws in the payments to Cohen. Trump previously denounced that Bragg “just hates him”.

Storming Capitol

The last time Trump called on his supporters to “fight like hell,” thousands of his supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington DC on Jan. 6, 2021. Inside, MPs were ratifying Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.

The storm killed nine people, including law enforcement officers who later committed suicide. More than a thousand rioters have been arrested and hundreds have been charged.

Support from Russian ex-president

Trump is supported in his call for protest by former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev. “Retake your country, Americans! To battle!” Medvedev wrote on his Telegram account on Saturday. Whether the 57-year-old politician meant it remained unclear.

Medvedev has stood out several times in recent months with extremely sharp and sometimes bizarre attacks to the West. Observers suspect that the once liberal politician wants to adopt the image of a hardliner for a possible succession to Vladimir Putin.
