Travel planners overloaded during public transport strike, travelers complain: ‘Why is this not being adjusted?’ | Interior

with pollThe travel planners of regional carriers are not reliable this morning. Due to the public transport strike, a lot of data has to be processed and the systems cannot handle that. To the frustration of travelers.

Arriva, among others, is experiencing problems with the journey planner. “The carriers in the Netherlands use a small number of systems for the planners. If a lot of data is put into it, it can lead to problems. We see that now. It is like a reservoir that becomes too full,” explains spokesperson Stefan Claessens.

According to Martijn Juffer of transport company Keolis, it was not possible to enter into the systems in advance which buses and trains would not run. “It was only in the morning that it became clear which rides could and could not take place. Any line that is not running must be entered into the system manually. And that all has to be processed.”

frustration

A number of travelers are frustrated with the problems in the apps, as you can see at the bottom of this article. “Very nice that you are on strike, can you keep the apps up to date,” it sounds on Twitter. And: ‘The app states that buses do run in Apeldoorn. But in reality they don’t drive. Why is this information not being changed?’

Where is correct information?

When the travel planners will be reliable again, Claessens says he cannot estimate. Arriva advises to keep an eye on arriva.nl/staking for the most up-to-date information.
