Transfer-free Boëtius commits to Hertha BSC for three seasons | NOW

Jean-Paul Boëtius continues his career at Hertha BSC. The 28-year-old Rotterdammer has signed a three-year contract with the number sixteen of the previous Bundesliga season.

Boëtius trained with his former club Feyenoord this summer, after his contract with FSV Mainz ended after four seasons. He also played in a number of exhibition games with the Rotterdam team, but did not sign a contract in De Kuip.

The playmaker played twice during his career for Feyenoord, the club where he became big. Besides Mainz, he also played abroad for FC Basel and KRC Genk. Once Boëtius wore the Orange shirt.

“During his four Bundesliga seasons with Mainz, he has regularly shown his qualities. He is a seasoned professional, knows our coach from that period and therefore knows what football we want to play.” say Hertha director Fredi Bobic about Boëtius.

“It is a stroke of luck for us that we have been able to sign a player with so much quality and Bundesliga experience on a free transfer. We are very happy that he has decided to play for Hertha.”

Boëtius will play with number 10 in Berlin and will meet fellow countryman Deyovaisio Zeefuik, among others. He may already make his debut on Saturday, when Hertha plays at home against Eintracht Frankfurt.
