Samsunspor, one of the Super League teams, announced that they were sentenced to a transfer ban for two periods, including the “winter and summer” transfer periods, by the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
HERE IS THE STATEMENT FROM THE CLUB:
Samsunspor: “As you know, a decision containing a two-term transfer ban was conveyed to our Club by FIFA in July. We applied to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) together with our lawyers against the unfair transfer ban conveyed to us. In order to prove our rightness in this process, we applied to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland.” We agreed with the most famous and experienced law firm in. Our Swiss lawyers made all necessary applications to CAS and met with CAS officials many times, including a five-hour hearing.
The main point we were right about was our mutual agreement with our former Footballer Arvydas Novikovas and his esteemed lawyer before the FIFA decision date. Our former football player and his lawyer, who were described as the opposing party in the FIFA case, stood by us in the CAS case and hearing and supported all our statements. However, FIFA ignored all these statements and all the evidence presented and fiercely defended our Club for punishment in the CAS case. The main reason behind this is, unfortunately; Our Turkish Clubs have a bad record internationally and especially in FIFA and CAS cases.
We wanted you to hear from us the CAS decision that was conveyed to us. According to the aforementioned decision, unexpectedly, FIFA’s unfair decision was approved by CAS and our Club will not be able to make transfers for two periods, including the upcoming “winter and summer” transfer periods.
As a result of the aforementioned unfair decision, FIFA has dealt a serious blow not only to our club but also to Turkish Football and Turkish Football Clubs.
Great Samsunspor Fan, who selflessly supports his team in the Super League, no matter where and in whatever situation, before going to the Super League as the Champion, during the year we became the Champion and afterwards;
As Samsunspor, we have been through very difficult conditions on our way to the Super League, but we have never given up. Perhaps today we are experiencing one of the most difficult days in our club’s history. But we will overcome this difficulty together by embracing each other more than before and supporting each other more. We will not be able to make transfers in the next two terms, but our Club President, Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım, will take the necessary steps to integrate our club and our community in this difficult process and we will inform you about these issues.
The only request of our club and our President, Mr. Yüksel Yıldırım, is for you to do more of what you have always done before and to take care of your Club and your team.
We love you.. You love and protect Samsunspor more than we do..”
