At VfL Wolfsburg, the season goal is actually Europe. Currently, however, the Lower Saxony are only twelve. That could have followed.

Trainer Ralph Hasenhüttl at VfL Wolfsburg, according to a report by the TV station Sky. Accordingly, much indicates that the Austrian must go in summer. Even premature ends are possible if the current misery (four defeats in series) continue.

Hasenhüttl’s contract in the Autostadt is still valid until 2026, but that he has fulfilled it, has been unlikely for weeks. After the 0-1 home defeat against Heidenheim at the end of March, the “kicker” had reported that “the voices are increasing” that managing director Peter Christiansen wanted to take a different way. In addition, the Dane had avoided a confession to Hasenhüttl: “I have been in this business for too long to talk about such topics at the present time. We are in a crucial phase in which we have to bundle our strength to successfully finish the season.”

According to Sky, Christiansen should see the Austrian trainer critically for some time and deal with possible alternatives. There has also been a conversation with some leaders. Hasenhüttl was hired before the Danish manager took office. Christiansen has only been in Wolfsburg since summer 2024, Hasenhüttl since March last year.

The 57-year-old first held the “wolves” in the league last season and was to lead the club to Europe this year. In view of six points behind in seventh place, the goal becomes increasingly unattainable. On tomorrow’s Easter Saturday, Wolfsburg meets Mainz 05. With a defeat, the air for Hasenhüttl could become thinner. The Lower Saxony celebrated the last victory on March 1st against Werder Bremen.
