“So creative”: Liverpool coach praises Florian Wirtz

The Premier League starts on Friday, the Liverpool FC plays the opening game directly. Trainer Arne Slot is particularly looking forward to Florian Wirtz.
Shortly before the start of the season of the Premier League, Arne Slot was impressed by newcomer Florian Wirtz. The trainer of FC Liverpool trusts the German international a quick acclimatization on the island – despite high expectations.
“His mentality is perhaps his greatest strength. And that says a lot, because when you see him play, you think: Is that serious? He is so creative,” said Slot before the home game against AFC Bournemouth on Friday evening at 8 p.m. (in the live ticker on T-online).
Wirtz was switched from Bayer Leverkusen to the ANFELD Road this summer for a sum of up to 150 million euros. According to the slot, the 21-year-old is not impressed by this transfer fee or other pressure. The offensive player still had to get used to the league, the pace and his new teammates – but the coach emphasized: “If you look at the games, his getting used to it was better than expected. And we had already expected a lot.”
Slot does not see larger content adjustments in the role of Wirtz. The system is different from Bayer Leverkusen on Xabi Alonso, but: “We want to play intensely. Xabi Alonso has also had it intensively played. Xabi tried to put it in positions in which we want to have it. In many ways it is the same for him,” says Slot.
