Employees of NS will put down the work on different days in the coming weeks and that will have significant consequences for train traffic. On four days in June, 24 hours will be stopped per region. It is the turn of the Noord region on Monday 16 June.
According to the FNV Spoor trade union, the Dutch Railways did not respond to the ultimatum that was set for a better collective agreement and his strikes are therefore no longer averted. “The NS ignores the ultimatum of its own employees,” says Henri Janssen, director of FNV Spoor. “That actually says everything.”
According to the employee organization, the proposal of the Dutch Railways to increase wages by 2.55 percent is far too low. The employees became extra angry when they learned that last year members of the Board of Directors still received a wage increase of more than 20,000 euros a year. “It seems that whoever is closest to the fire, warm themselves the best,” says Janssen.
This Friday the first strike day is on the program. Then it is the turn of the Central Netherlands region, which includes the Stations Utrecht, Amersfoort and Schiphol.
