A train from Roosendaal in the direction of Zevenbergen was stopped on Sunday evening due to a fire report. According to a spokesperson for railway manager ProRail, it was only smoke development and there was no fire. No one was injured.
The train left Roosendaal station at seven past ten in the evening in the direction of Zevenbergen. The train came to a standstill at Hoeven due to a report of smoke from a trash can.
The fire brigade and Prorail arrived on site. The cause of the smoke is unknown. “Possibly a cigarette, for example that someone secretly smoked on the train. I dare not say whether that was also the case here, but a report of smoke is more common,” says the spokesperson.
According to him, the train was not evacuated and the problems were quickly resolved. After a check by the fire brigade, the train was able to continue driving.
