A train collided with a herd of deer around half past nine on Tuesday evening, ProRail reports. The animals were hit by the train on the route between Boxtel and Best, near Liempde.
Due to the collision, no trains ran between Tilburg and Eindhoven for a short time. ProRail employees are on site to check the track and clean up animal remains.
According to a spokesperson for ProRail, train traffic will be running again in the foreseeable future. “Train traffic has restarted, but it always takes some time before everything really gets going.”
According to the NS, traffic is expected to move again at 10:45 p.m.
The spokesperson does not know exactly how many deer are involved. “At least more than one.”
