At the weekend, Timo Werner was said goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur and also at RB Leipzig he seems to have no future because he is one of the top earners. The “picture” now connects the 29 -year -old offensive player with a move to Turkey. Accordingly, Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor would have signaled interest in Werner.
Werner came back to RB Leipzig from FC Chelsea in 2022 for 20 million euros and was awarded to Tottenham after one and a half years. The Europa League winner refrained from activating the purchase option of EUR 15 million for the 57-time German international, which was involved in ten goals in 41 games.
Since a thigh injury in mid -January, Werner has only completed eight minutes at 0-1 against Manchester City for the Spurs. The Leipzig loan was not reported for the co-phase of the Europa League and in the Premier League he has not been in the squad since the defeat against the Citizens. In the most recent market value update of the Premier League, he went down from 10 million to EUR 7 million-from his career maximum value of EUR 80 million from March 2020, there is no longer a tenth.
Although the future of attackers Benjamin Sesko, Loïs Openda and Yussuf Poulsen is uncertain in Leipzig and no new coach is yet certain, the Saxons are no longer planning with Werner. Due to the missed qualification for European business, the salary structure is to be reduced and with a rumored annual salary of EUR 10 million gross, it is one of the top earners. For Fenerbahce, who became runner-up and will play in the Champions League qualification, and for trabzonspor, which landed outside the international ranks, Werner would have to accept significant losses in the salary.
