It starts from Brussels Motor Showscheduled from 9 to 18 January 2026 within the city expo, the march towards the new Toyota Hilux towards its debut on the European market. The appointment with the ninth generation of the pick-up produced and marketed by the Japanese company is for next spring, with a rich range of engines offered as part of the brand’s multi-technological strategy. In particular, for the Old Continent, two completely electrified versions stand out, with the prospect, starting from 2028, of also introducing a hydrogen model). Next to the reference variant mild hybrid equipped with a 2.8 liter diesel engine combined with a 48V hybrid system, in fact, the unprecedented solution is envisaged full electric with a maximum declared autonomy of 380 kilometers in the city cycle. Both versions will be available exclusively in a double cab configuration, with an advanced active safety and driver assistance package Toyota T–Mate and an exterior design developed around the theme Robust and Agile.

The new Hilux in the mild hybrid version, with the 48V hybrid system, it represents the Japanese company’s point of reference for the European market. Under the hood there is a 2.8 liter diesel engine combined with a 48V lithium ion battery which, in addition to guaranteeing a quieter and smoother transmission, offers greater efficiency in terms of consumption and lower CO2 emissions compared to the variant equipped exclusively with a diesel engine. The load capacity of the new Toyota pick-up has been maintained, with a maximum payload of one tonne and towing capacity of 3.5 tons. Completing the offer is the proverbial robustness of a model designed to face even the most extreme solutions, with a fording capacity of up to 700 mm deep and a Multi–Terrain Select (combined with the Multi-Terrain Monitor and the Panoramic View Monitor for precise maneuvers on the most complicated surfaces) which optimizes vehicle performance even on the most rugged terrain.

Eight generations after its debut and over 27 million in global sales, the Toyota Hilux is ready to debut in an unprecedented electric version. At the base of this model we find the platform Tnga with bodywork leotard–Hon–frames of the other versions of the famous pick-up produced and marketed by the Japanese company. This all-wheel drive version is equipped with a lithium-ion battery 59.2 kWhwith electric front and rear axles and a maximum torque of 205 Nm to the front axle and from 268 Nm at the rear. At the level of maximum declared autonomy, a range of is expected 257 km in the mixed combined cycle Wltp, while in urban areas it reaches up to altitude 380km. Electric Hilux offers a load capacity of 715kg and a towing capacity of 1.6 tonnes, with a ground clearance of 212 mm and a maximum fording depth mirrored (equal to 700 mm) to that of the other Hilux versions. For this debut Toyota has developed a system Multi–Terrain Select specific that optimizes braking and torque to provide superior control even in the most demanding conditions.
