On Saturday night there was a massive fire on a BSR company site on Gotthardstrasse/Teichstrasse in Berlin-Reinickendorf.

The fierce fire raged around 2:30 a.m.! Trees burn, an empty administration building is damaged by the intense heat. “4,000 empty plastic garbage cans burned, no one was injured,” said a fire department spokesman.

The BSR uses the empty parking lot in front of the old building as a storage space for the plastic bins, which should actually be delivered soon, according to the police. Unknown people would have set fire to the barrels.

The police blocked the company premises while the fire brigade was on duty with over 30 forces. After 45 minutes they had the flames under control. Onlookers had to be chased away by the police because of the danger of flying sparks and toxic smoke.

When asked about the press office of the Berlin police, however, nothing was noted about onlookers who could have hindered the operation. “There were no incidents that would have required the intervention of the police,” said a police spokeswoman.

Nothing more specific about the cause of the fire could be given, but arson is currently assumed. A fire department is investigating.
