Towering energy bills and a drafty house? Province helps with free home insulation

Homeowners with an income of up to 21,335 euros per year and homes with multiple owners with an income of up to 29,598 euros can have insulation measures carried out at the expense of the province. A maximum of 2500 euros is available per house. Stelpstra: “Depending on the type of home and heating behaviour, you can then save between 145 and 295 euros per month on the energy bill.”

According to the deputy, there are about 2800 households in Drenthe that are eligible for the insulation scheme. The Provincial Council approved 1 million euros and the cabinet also contributed through several regional deals.

But if all 2800 households want to use it, 7 million euros is needed. “I want to start quickly and not lose any time. If it turns out that the money will run out quickly, I will go back to the Provincial Council. I feel the scope at many political parties to make even more money available”, the ChristenUnie director sees opportunities .

The commissioner also wants to sit down with municipalities because they also receive money from the government for these kinds of matters. “If necessary, we just have to rake it together from different pots. You should therefore also look at whether 130 percent of the minimum wage should remain the upper limit, because now middle incomes will also be squeezed by rising energy costs.”

Via a questionnaire on the website simplyzodrenthe.nl Drenthe who would like to insulate can check whether they are eligible for the subsidy from Monday 3 October. After registration, an insulation consultant will visit you to see which form of insulation is suitable for the home.

This advisor then provides a quote and submits the application together with the home owner. “In this way we want to unburden the residents who apply as much as possible. They do not have to pay for it themselves”, Stelpstra confirms once again.
