According to a report, Hans-Joachim Watzke will continue to remain spokesman for the Presidium of German Football League (DFL) and be voted again in September. The prerequisite is therefore that he can feel the backing of the 36 clubs in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga. Watzke confirmed to the “kicker” to run again. At first there was no official statement by the DFL.

The 65 -year -old Watzke will give up his position in Borussia Dortmund’s management at the end of the year. In order to enable a smooth transition, Watzke would like to give up athletic responsibility earlier after 20 years of office.

In contrast, Watzke should continue to participate in the DFL, who wants to re-election the Liga Presidium and the Supervisory Board in September. The BVB boss is said to have made its ambitions clear this week at the closed conference with the managing directors Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel. In addition to his work as Presidium spokesman, Watzke is also head of the Supervisory Board.
