“We wish Cees a speedy recovery,” says his team on the platform X. In this Tour he drove twice to a top 20 classification. He was mainly due to the sprint train of Davide Ballerini.

It was doubtful whether Bol would start in the Tour. The cyclist was struggling with stomach complaints and it was therefore exciting for the fan club whether he would participate. “We had a lot of tension. Cees was sick this weekend and we would encourage him for four days in France. I received an app from him on Monday and he announced that he could start,” says Patrick Engelen of the Belgian fan club.

Sixth Tour

Bol was busy with his sixth Tour de France. The Zaankanter was the toboggan runner in the general classification for a few days. At the time of stepping off, he was 143rd at almost two hours from Gaitrijdrager Ben Healy.

The riders are entering the Pyrenees today. Spectacle is expected with the Hautacam as a final climb. The Tour de France lasts until Sunday 27 July.
